Medical Assistant Training Program
The Workforce Solutions, Training, and Teamwork (STAT) Medical Assistant Program, in partnership with the Rhode Island College, features a series of free, educational training and support services for those ages 18 and older. The goal of the program is to meet industry needs by rapidly transforming a group of unemployed and underemployed entry-level Rhode Islanders into prepared, well-qualified medical assistants. Program graduates will have opportunities to secure employment and advance over time to higher levels of education and employment in the high-demand healthcare industry.

More About the Medical Assistant Training Program
Each cohort of students complete a free program consisting of:
- 720 hours of classroom training and 120 hours of internship training (subject to change.)
- AHA Basic Life Support certification.
- Practical work experience and networking opportunities to prepare for a successful future career in health care.
- Structured work-readiness training and workshops to build employability skills.
- The possibility of employment upon successful completion of the program.
- Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to sit for the National CCMA exam.
The program will require students to:
- Assist in medical procedures.
- Use medical terminology and applying clinical skills.
- Conduct clerical and administrative procedures, including reception and scheduling.
- Create electronic charting.
- Perform clinical testing.
- Perform basic pharmacology.
- Follow HIPAA regulations.
- Perform first aid.
- Obtain a CPR certification.
Program Completion Requirements
Students should note that:
- Attendance is mandatory. Any missed clinical time will need to be made up before certificate is awarded.
- A certificate will be awarded to those candidates who have successfully completed the program.

My favorite part of the job is that it’s something new every day – new faces, new cases. You can never get bored because there’s so much to do and so many new things to learn.
