Product Development in Minimally Invasive Surgery
The Brown University Medical School Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery provides assistance to corporations in the laboratory and clinical phases of product development and FDA approval process.
The division is pleased to have been an integral part in the development of a variety of products ranging from the Avitene Laparoscopic dispenser, the Davol irrigator, Microsurg laparoscopic instruments and the Harmonic Scalpel. The division is uniquely suited to assist corporations in product development through a wide range and large volume of laparoscopic procedures, state of the art laboratory and animal facilities and video conference capabilities to facilitate interactions with between investigators and corporate members.
Projects can be done by the corporation itself with the assistance of the research coordinator and consultation of the faculty or by the faculty themselves. For more information, charges and availability, please contact the director of the division or the research coordinator.
