Whether a child needs an urgent procedure or an elective operation, the pediatric surgery division of Hasbro Children's Hospital is available to provide operative management and perioperative care performed by faculty members who are recognized nationally as leaders in American pediatric surgery. The division has all of the mechanisms to support the child and family through what can be a stressful experience.
The division features six board-certified pediatric surgeons, four advanced practice providers and a fellow. The division is one of only 32 North American centers that train future pediatric surgeons. Its research is funded by the National Institutes of Health.

- Fetal surgery and consultation, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome
- Fetal surgery for spina bifida
- Gastronomy tubes

- Newborn surgery for congenital anomalies in the head, neck, chest and abdomen
- Thoracic and pulmonary surgery for congenital and acquired abnormalities
- Pectus carinatum, pectus excavatum and other rib or chest malformations
- Airway evaluation for stridor or obstruction: bronchoscopy, tracheostomy
and laser treatment - Esophageal and gastrointestinal acquired problems: achalasia, reflux, pyloric
stenosis, inflammatory bowel disease, constipation and bowel management
programs, short bowel syndrome and management - Congenital and acquired hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases and other
abdominal surgery - Anorectal problems and imperforate anus, Hirschsprung's disease, cloacal anomalies
- Inguinal and genitourinary: undescended testes, hernia, hydrocele and circumcision
- Endocrine: adrenal, pancreatic and thyroid lesions
- Vascular malformations, hemangiomas
- Skin, subcutaneous and muscle tumors or benign lesions: all congenital nevi,
branchial cleft anomalies, thyroglossal duct cysts or sinuses - Burn management
- Breast conditions: fibroadenomas, gynecomastia, ovarian lesions of children
and adolescents - Pediatric solid tumors of the chest, liver, kidney; soft tissue sarcoma and
surgical oncology - Minimally invasive airway, thoracic and abdominal surgery; laparoscopy, thoracoscopy
- Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)
