What is Family Medicine?
Family medicine is a specialty that provides comprehensive care for your family and its individual members, from birth through geriatric years. Fostered by the family practice philosophy, we can appreciate the relationships and history of your whole family to better coordinate your care. We work in partnership with you to make decisions, and we are recognized by insurers as primary care providers.
The training in a family practice residency builds on a foundation of knowledge derived from other disciplines, including internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, surgery, geriatrics and the behavioral sciences.
Our focus is on preventive medicine. We provide for your overall health care needs when you are ill and when you are well. We also guide you through the complex health care system and coordinate health services as you need them by making arrangements with specialists when required.
