That is why we worked closely with our infection prevention and infectious diseases teams to be able to provide the care you need in a safe environment.

About Comprehensive Pulmonary Function Testing

At the Women's Medicine Collaborative, our team of specialists provides pulmonary consultation and pulmonary function testing, with expertise in lung disease and sleep apnea in pregnancy.

The pulmonary function lab at the Women’s Medicine Collaborative is open Monday through Friday, and provides a full range of pulmonary function testing and pulmonary services, including:

  • Full pulmonary function tests (PFTs), including pre- and post-spirometry, maximum voluntary ventilation, lung volumes and diffusing capacity
  • Methacholine challenge testing, also known as bronchoprovocation testing
  • Six-minute walk test
  • Asthma education (one-on-one or in a group session)

All pulmonary function test results are interpreted by our board-certified pulmonologist, and we are always available to consult with the referring provider on any of the test results we provide.

Asthma Management Program

Our asthma management program offers comprehensive services provided by a pulmonologist, a nurse practitioner/certified asthma educator, a respiratory therapist/certified asthma educator, and an obstetric internist, as needed.

Our asthma patients also have access to asthma shared medical appointments.

A shared medical appointment (SMA) provides patients with more time with their provider and other members of the clinical team. In this 90-minute appointment, multiple patients meet with the provider as well as a medical assistant and group facilitator. Along with receiving individualized attention, it is an opportunity for patients to help and support one another by sharing experiences.

Pulmonary Diseases in Pregnancy

As part of the Women's Medicine Collaborative's multidisciplinary obstetric medicine service (MOMS), we specialize in pulmonary diseases and sleep apnea in pregnancy.

In collaboration with the patient’s referring obstetrician, obstetric internist, midwife, gynecologist, family practitioner, or other health care provider, we develop a coordinated plan of care for women with acute and chronic pulmonary disorders during preconception, pregnancy and the postpartum period.
