Community Health Institute

Screening and Vaccination Programs

These screenings and adult immunization clinics service uninsured and low-income people.

WomanCare

In partnership with the Lifespan Cancer Institute and Anne C. Pappas Center for Breast Imaging, Lifespan Community Health Institute (LCHI) offers a semi-annual breast and cervical cancer screening program for women aged 21 and older. No medical insurance is required. During the visit, women can receive a pelvic exam, Pap test, clinical breast exam, and/or screening mammogram based on medical history. Most results are available on the same day and arrangements for follow-up care are provided, as needed.

For more information about the next screening event contact Victoria Lugo at vlugo@lifespan.org or call 401-444-8076.

Colorectal Cancer Screening

Our community health workers help local adults (45 to 75 years old) navigate their options for colorectal cancer screenings. By distributing at-home testing kits, scheduling medical appointments, and coordinating transportation, we provide convenient and easy access to this vital yet often overlooked step in your healthcare routine.

For more information, please contact Yohasma Marzan at yohasma.marzan@lifespan.org or call 401-444-4063.

Flu Clinics

LCHI partners with the Rhode Island Department of Health to serve as a community immunizer, running free flu clinics for uninsured and low-income adults.

For more information, please contact Yohasma Marzan at yohasma.marzan@lifespan.org or call 401-444-4063.

Glucose and Blood Pressure Screenings

These screenings aim to reduce the burden of hypertension and diabetes in the community; help connect clients to a primary care medical home; and promote adoption of health-promoting behaviors and self-management techniques. Screenings occur multiple times a month at partnering community sites.

For more information, please contact Yohasma Marzan at yohasma.marzan@lifespan.org or call 401-444-4063.

Skin Check

In collaboration with The Partnership to Reduce Cancer in RI, Rhode Island Department of Health, and Brown Dermatology, LCHI offers free melanoma screening and educational material to beachgoers, outdoor workers, and other populations who spend a lot of time outdoors.
