Lifespan Research Day 2024

The Lifespan Office of Research will host its 31st annual Research Day on Friday, November 8, 2024. 

More than 460 clinical trials are currently underway at Lifespan, and awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other sources, totaling more than $120 million, support Lifespan’s pioneering academic and clinical research. Please join us in celebrating the research being conducted at Lifespan.

Keynote Speaker

The event will be headlined by a presentation from Russell J. McCulloh, MD, titled Clinical Trials Innovations: Conducting Clinical Trials in Rural and Underserved Settings.

Dr. McCulloh is a professor of pediatrics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is also the associate vice chancellor of clinical research for UNMC, the vice president for research for Nebraska Medicine, and the medical director for clinical and translational research operations at Children's Nebraska. He completed his infectious diseases fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital and Brown University. He earned his MD from the University of Missouri.

Call for Abstracts

Rhode Island researchers are invited to submit abstracts to be considered for an oral or electronic posterboard presentation.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Share findings with local colleagues.
  • Gain feedback from expert faculty.
  • Network and foster collaborations with professionals from various disciplines and institutions. 
  • Be considered for various awards. 

Guidelines for Submitting Authors

  1. The faculty member or a trainee would be expected to present. 
  2. Authors will need to select a category each for submitted abstract.
    • Innovation
    • Basic
    • Clinical and Translational
  3. Submit abstracts here, at redcap.
  4. The deadline for abstract submissions is August 28, 2024.
  5. Authors will be notified in late August on their abstract status.
    • Invited authors will be provided with details and deadlines for final electronic poster submission.
    • Invited oral presenters will be provided with a deadline for presentations.
